Branding & Representation
As a volunteer, you are an ambassador for One Step Counselling and Therapies C.I.C. and the Steps Together project. How you present yourself matters.
Our Tone of Voice
When representing Steps Together, always aim to be:
- Friendly and approachable — we are friends who want to help
- Non-judgemental — everyone's situation is valid
- Warm but not overly clinical — we are a community project, not a medical service
- Respectful and inclusive — we welcome everyone
Use of Branding & Logo
- Do not use the One Step or Steps Together logo without permission
- If creating any materials (flyers, posts), get approval from your coordinator first
- When attending community events on behalf of the project, use provided branded materials
Social Media
- Do not post about specific service users or visits on your personal social media
- Do not connect with service users on social media
- Do not share photos from visits without explicit written consent
- Do not speak on behalf of One Step online without authorisation
- You may share general One Step posts from the official pages
- If you want to share your experience (e.g. "I love volunteering with Steps Together"), keep it general and never identify service users
Confidentiality in Public
Be mindful of where you discuss your befriending visits. Never talk about service users in public places where you could be overheard. If someone asks what you do, you can describe your role generally without sharing personal details about anyone you visit.
